Success Story: Alfred Williams & Company Designing a Strategic Learning Framework for Workforce Engagement

Sep 03, 2025

Challenge:

In preparation for 2024, Alfred Williams & Company sought to create a structured, long-term learning plan to enhance team engagement, foster productive collaboration, and equip employees with tools for personal and professional growth. Their Education Subcommittee recognized the need to build a cohesive, intentional sequence of workshops that would meet people where they are while cultivating shared understanding and forward-thinking practices across the organization.

Solution:

Alfred Williams & Company partnered with Multicultural Classroom® to design a strategic learning sequence grounded in reflection, communication, and actionable planning. The program was structured across four sessions, each designed to build upon the previous while engaging key stakeholders throughout the development process.

Workshop Series Structure:

Session 1: Evaluating the Data

The first session focused on analyzing employee survey responses and translating them into clearly defined needs and motivations. From there, the group identified measurable goals that would guide the upcoming workshops and set a strong foundation for organizational learning.

Session 2: Designing the Roadmap

Using Multicultural Classroom’s learning framework, the team collaborated to create a year-long scope and sequence. This included selecting topics, identifying key learning outcomes, and aligning the content with the company’s vision for improved communication and team development.

Session 3: Workshopping for Implementation

After presenting the initial plan to the larger committee and gathering feedback, participants reconvened to refine the sequence and begin curating resources. The session launched the creation of tailored materials—ready-to-use tools that included activity prompts, discussion starters, and guidance for internal facilitators.

Session 4: Reflection and Long-Term Planning

The final session emphasized sustainability. Participants reviewed early results, discussed any implementation roadblocks, and identified practical steps to maintain momentum. The session culminated in designing a self-sustaining model that would continue to guide team growth beyond the year’s programming.

Key Add-On: Unearthing Bias Workshop

Multicultural Classroom also facilitated the “Unearthing Bias” workshop. This virtual session equipped team members with a common language for addressing cultural tension, encouraged deep reflection, and inspired participants to take meaningful action within their roles.

Each participant received:

  • “My Action Plan” Toolkit
  • Unearthing Bias Mini Workbook

Resource Curation Support

Following the third session, Multicultural Classroom initiated a collaborative resource development process. The curated materials—typically spanning 6 to 10 pages—included ready-to-implement activities, guiding questions, and structured pathways for internal teams to apply the lessons learned in daily practice.

Impact:

This customized collaboration provided Alfred Williams & Company with a clear strategic roadmap, a year-long learning plan, and tools to support thoughtful engagement across departments. Employees walked away with practical strategies for improving communication, making informed decisions, and building stronger professional relationships.

The workshop series and resource development process also positioned the Education Subcommittee to serve as internal facilitators, creating sustainable impact without reliance on external trainers. The company now has a foundation to extend the learning process independently while continuing to support employee growth and collaboration.
